Square pegs..round holes

We do things a bit different at Square Peg..

We believe not everyone fits into a round hole..so we create experiencial opportunities for young people to find real relevancy to their learning through bespoke programmes, created to ignite sparks, find passions and learn in a way relevant to them.

Real world experiences

square peg icons_edited_edited.png

We work with local businesses, entrepreneurs and workplaces to get young people out of the  classroom and into the world..

We provide vital bridges between the classroom and the professional world, offering hands-on experiences that spark curiosity.

By introducing them to diverse environments and illustrating how their practical skills apply to real careers, we help them imagine a bigger future.

Exposure creates aspiration

Many young people can only aspire to what they know exists. If they have never met a florist, a furniture maker, a landscape gardener, an entrepreneur or a videographer, how can they imagine themselves becoming one?

At Square Peg, we believe that exposure creates aspiration.

By introducing young people to a wide range of people, places, careers and opportunities, we help them broaden their horizons, discover new possibilities and begin to see a future that feels exciting, achievable and relevant to them.

Real relationships

Relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

We believe young people are far more likely to engage, grow and succeed when they feel genuinely seen, heard and understood.

That's why we take a warm, authentic and individual approach, creating an environment that feels supportive rather than formal.

Through trust, shared experiences, laughter, genuine interest and real conversations, we help young people build confidence, develop positive connections and feel valued for who they are.

Fully bespoke

We understand young people are all different, so what we do depends entirely on the individual.

Even in our local area, there are a wealth of diverse opportunities for young people to explore, and we work closely with the individual, school and parents to ensure we have the best chance at capturing the interests, like and passions of the young person.

Highly adaptable to the needs, likes and interests of the young person, we can fully personalise each day that person spends with us, we don't follow a programme, we adapt to our learners.

We have the freedom to use our local areas to the full and use an interest led approach to engage and motivate.

We hold flexible times,  and our links in the community mean we have a wealth of experts at our disposal to engage with.

What we offer..

Individual programmes built around each young person's interests, strengths and goals.

A strong focus on confidence, purpose and helping young people discover what they're capable of.

Real-world learning experiences, including links with local businesses, employers and community projects.

Relationship-led support that helps young people feel safe, valued and understood.

Bespoke core curriculum lessons delivered from an experienced, qualified teacher (if required).

Preparing young people not just for school, but for life, work and the future beyond education.

Why?

Engagement.  Confidence,  Aspirations. Self awareness.  Attendance.  Motivation.  Future planning.

Business visits. Practical activities. Mentoring.  Reflection.  Action planning.  Feedback.  Parental engagement.

How?

1-2-1 and small group.  Out in the community.

Where?

Real world, but still safe..

At Square Peg, learning doesn't just happen in a classroom.
We often work 1:1 with young people and spend time out in the community, exploring opportunities, visiting local businesses and gaining real-world experiences.

While our approach is flexible and personalised, safeguarding is never compromised.

Comprehensive risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and clear policies are in place to ensure every young person can take part safely, confidently and with the support they need.

Staff hold Enhanced DBS checks and receive regular safeguarding training, ensuring the highest standards of care, professionalism and child protection are maintained at all times.

Businesses, people and experts in the community are all checked and follow the procedures within our safeguarding policy.

Behind Square Peg

Hi, I'm Suzy

I've always been fascinated by people, their stories and the many different ways they build a life.

Before creating Square Peg, I spent almost a decade working in education as a teacher, senior leader and behaviour specialist, supporting children and young people across both primary and secondary settings. I also worked within a Pupil Referral Unit, where I developed provision specifically designed to better meet the needs of autistic young people.

Alongside my work in education, I've spent recent years stepping into the wider world myself. I've run my own business, own a woodworking workshop,  designed and transformed gardens and homes, collaborated with local businesses and thrown myself into learning new skills and trades wherever I could.

Those experiences reinforced something I had long believed: there is no single path to success, and not every young person is inspired by the same things.

As someone with ADHD, and as a parent of an autistic child, I understand personally what it can feel like when you don't quite fit the mould. That's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about helping young people discover their strengths, build confidence and find a future that feels right for them.

Square Peg brings together everything I've learned from education, business, practical skills and life experience. My aim is simple: to help young people discover who they are, what they're good at and where they fit in the world.
